The Development of the Tourism Sector in Algeria and its Impact on Economic Growth During The Period (2005-2021)

Abstract

  This study carried out a descriptive analysis of the development of the tourism sector and the rate of economic growth in Algeria, while studying the reality and prospects of their development, in addition to measuring the impact of the tourism sector on economic growth in Algeria during the period from 2005 to 2021. The results conclude that there is a slight impact of the tourism sector (number of arrivals and tourism income) on economic growth in Algeria during the period studied. This confirms the poor development performance of the country's tourism sector, which calls for improving tourism development strategies and paying increased attention to it. The study suggests the need to complete the guidelines for the development of tourism infrastructure and improve the financing of tourism projects in order to improve the economic performance of the sector in Algeria.
